The White Cedar

Description

The White Cedar is a contemporary lakeside dwelling on Bigwin Island, envisioned as a low-lying form that quietly settles into a sloped, forested site. Clad in natural white cedar siding and anchored by a granite base, the design emphasizes a dialogue between architecture and landscape. The use of honest, enduring materials allows the structure to blend seamlessly into its surroundings—nearly invisible from the water—while a crisp grey parapet line defines the horizon, marking the subtle threshold between forest and built form.
